With a new wave of brokerages coming out to challenge the big names in investing comes uncertainty regarding which free app is best, Robinhood or Webull.

Both Robinhood and Webull are fairly new investment apps in the fintech space, and share some similarities but also have some very key differences. Today we are going to explore those differences and help you make an informed decision about which investing app is right for you.

Instead of trying to pick a definitive winner between the two apps, Robinhood and Webull should be considered based on your investing needs.

Certain types of investors are going to gravitate towards either app, since both apps cater to different subsets of investors.

As an affiliate marketer, I definitely choose Webull as the winner against Robinhood, because Webull offers a solid service and an AMAZING affiliate program with tons of sign-up and referral bonuses, BUT… not everyone is into affiliate marketing.

Webull was also designed to cater to traders, by giving them access to high-quality technical analysis tools inside their mobile app.

Most of you who are reading this are just looking for an investing app, not a side-job, so you’ll probably have a better experience with Robinhood. The fractional shares, easy to use interface, and Dividend Re-Investment Plan (DRIP) functionality make it perfect for beginners.

If you are open to the idea of a side hustle with affiliate marketing, then download BOTH, but Webull will work out better for you overall.

You’ll want to try them out yourself if you’re going to be trying to get other people to sign up for them, so that’s why I suggest you download both, but if you only want to pick one for affiliate marketing purposes, choose Webull.

If you’re confused still, we’ll go into more detail about both apps below, and break down their advantages and disadvantages even more, so you can make an educated decision about which investing app is for you.

Robinhood vs Webull: Which app has the best service?

Both of these services are fine, but Robinhood has a slightly better service overall. Their whole app is simple and intuitive, and especially for a beginner investor, their service has everything you need.

Now that the Robinhood fractional share waitlist is no longer a thing (they made us wait forever on a waitlist for fractional shares to be released) and now that Robinhood has added a Dividend Re-Investment Program, Webull just simply doesn’t have enough features to compete.

For some reason Webull hasn’t decided to offer fractional shares yet, but when they do, their service score will improve.

Cryptocurrency has been on Robinhood for a while, but only Bitcoin. Webull has a bunch of different cryptocurrency charts on their app but users can’t buy crypto yet, so we’ll see if Webull starts allowing both stocks and a full range of cryptocurrencies in the future.

Webull DOES have a Stock Lending Program, which allows users to lend their shares to Webull in exchange for an interest payments, which is REALLY neat, but it’s not enough to make Webull have a superior service.

As of now, even though Webull’s service isn’t as good overall as Robinhood, that doesn’t mean Webull’s service is complete garbage or anything. Webull’s service is fine, but it’s just fine and not great.

Robinhood vs Webull: How simple are these investing apps?

Robinhood Simplicity 95%
Webull Simplicity 85%

The simplicity of an app makes a huge difference in the quality of the user experience.

You don’t want to be missing trades because the app you use has a user interface that isn’t intuitive or because you can’t figure out how to use certain parts of it.

So lets see which app is easiest to use, Robinhood or Webull.

How easy is Robinhood to use?

robinhood investment app stock sale

Robinhood was designed to be a simple app that was approachable for everyone and free. They did a pretty good job nailing that.

Robinhood isn’t the most simple app on the planet (Acorns and Cash App are the leaders here), but it’s pretty simple especially when you compare Robinhood with Webull.

The limited functionality of the app itself helps to keep it very simple and easy to understand for beginners, who may have a hard time understanding all of the different investing tools some of the other services provide.

Robinhood recently introduced Fractional Shares and added DRIP (Dividend Re-Investment Plan) functionality, which makes investing even easier for beginners.

There used to be a huge waitlist for Robinhood fractional shares, but luckily they have removed it and given everyone access. YAY!

DRIPs save you the time of having to reinvest your dividend payments manually, so they aren’t exactly a big deal, but they make things a little easier, and that’s what counts.

Here’s an article about some other ways DRIPs are beneficial to investors.

How easy is Webull to use?

webull investing app

Robinhood may have been designed to be easy to use, but that doesn’t mean Webull is hard to use. Webull is just as easy to use as Robinhood if you are just looking for basic functionality. The app makes sense and is pretty intuitive for beginners to figure out.

The big difference between the two is – Webull doesn’t offer fractional shares OR a DRIP, while Robinhood does.

Fractional shares make it much easier to invest into companies because you don’t have to do the math to figure out how many shares you want to buy, and you don’t have to save up money and miss certain opportunities because you didn’t have enough money to buy a certain amount of shares.

The same goes for DRIP programs… Instead of having to take the time to choose where your dividends go, they automatically get reinvested and take advantage of dollar cost averaging, that way you don’t have to do it manually.

Which investment app is easiest to use between Robinhood and Webull

The biggest differences here are really the fractional shares and DRIP provided by the Robinhood app. Investing is tedious and annoying without these features, and Webull really should consider adding them in.

Until then, Robinhood is a clear winner here, sorry Webull!

Robinhood and Webull Sign-up and referral bonuses

Robinhood Sign-up and referrals 85%
Webull Sign-up and referrals 90%

Robinhood and Webull have similar sign-up bonuses which reward free shares of random stocks for people who are new users, and for people who refer new users.

I know it feels like it would be hard to refer people, but it really isn’t. You’d be surprised at how willing people are to try new things once they see you doing it… The referrals can add up quite fast.

Lets go over the details and see which app would win in a fight, Webull Vs Robinhood… here we go…

Robinhood sign up and referral bonuses and requirements

robinhood investing app referral bonus
Robinhood will give you 1 free share of a randomly picked stock priced between $2.50 USD and $200 USD just for signing up. You don’t have to make any deposit, you just have to sign-up to receive your bonus. Robinhood will also reward you with 1 extra share for each new member you refer, as well as offering additional promotions occasionally. The maximum amount of money you can get from referrals is $500 per year so don’t expect to get rich off of it. Despite the limit on referral income and the fairly low value of the free stocks, it’s still free money and every little bit of money helps.

Webull sign up and referral bonuses and requirements

Webull offers a similar bonus as Robinhood for sign-up and referral bonuses…with a few major differences.

You USED TO get rewarded with 1 free share of stock valued between $2.50 – $250 just for signing up, but Webull recently stopped that promotion, AGAIN…

Luckily, they still offer a really decent sign-up promotion and affiliate program, which just requires people to invest $100 when they open an account.

This is a pretty good deal, especially considering other apps like M1 Finance require you to deposit $100 just to receive $10, but it’s less appealing than it used to be when Webull was giving out stock shares just for depositing $.01.

If you refer your friends to use Webull, you will receive at LEAST 2 free shares of stock per person who signs up and deposits $100 into their Webull account. This referral bonus has no maximum, so if you are good at getting people to join, you can make some solid income from just referrals alone.

Webull also has promotional offers pretty much all the time, where they offer additional shares of stocks for referring new users, so keep an eye out for those. Sometimes Webull really wants to give shares away 😀

You won’t hear much about this, but Webull has an interesting Webull Influencer Program where you can choose from a few different referral bonus options.

You’ll have to find a Webull influencer to invite you to the program and most of them want you to be able to bring in users because us Webull influencers get paid when the influencers we refer obtain new customers.

Robinhood Vs Webull: Best Sign-up and Referral Program

Between Robinhood and Webull, the competition regarding which app has the best sign-up and referral program shouldn’t ven be called a competition…

It’s more like a massacre.

Robinhood just can’t compete with the massive quantities of free stocks that Webull gives out.

Robinhood and Webull Stock Research Tools

Webull Stock Research Tools 95%

As you would expect, good research tools are great to have while picking your stocks.

Knowledge is power, and in investing you want to have every advantage you can get. You don’t need to go overboard with tools but you should be using something.

Here is how the Robinhood stock research tools compare to those of it’s competitor, Webull.

Robinhood stock research tools

I don’t want to make this sound negative, because it isn’t, but Robinhood has mediocre research tools.

There isn’t anything wrong with them, they work and you don’t really NEED to rely on in-app research tools anyway, but they also aren’t anything special.

Their tools are right in the middle of the pack, but I wouldn’t base your decision on this factor alone because they work great.

Webull stock research tools

Aside from their amazing referral and influencer programs, pretty much the only thing that majorly stands out about Webull is how powerful their stock research tools are.

Webull was made with traders in mind, giving you access to professional grade tools directly on your mobile phone.

If you want your investing app to have better tools than Webull, you’re going to be hard-pressed to find an app with something better.

Pretty much the only platforms that have comparable research tools are the big-name trading platforms like TD Ameritrade’s Thinkorswim.

Best stock research tools: Robinhood or Webull?

This category is no contest. Webull has the best stock research and technical analysis tools by far.

How important this metric is depends on your approach to investing.

If you want to be a long-term investor then either investing app will work great for you, but if you want an app for trading, then Webull is the clear choice.
